I have had this for about a month. This is a very high quality unit, nicely designed. I chose it over the Honda Eu2000i because it has a fuel gage and is a hair lighter (2 pounds), and liked the styling better. Specs are so close it’s a tie… the Yamaha unit specs a bit quieter in “eco” throttle but the Honda specs a bit quieter at full power. Prior to this purchase I had bought a Honeywell inverter generator (a much less expensive Chinese-made knock-off) from Costco which I returned, because I was unimpressed with the Honeywell unit’s quality and noise level. While the price difference is major, you get what you pay for in this case. Anyone looking at the cheaper knock-offs should really consider that a 5db increase in noise level is about twice as loud, the way humans perceive it
When I opened the box and saw this little generator, I thought I was in trouble. But this 2800 watt Yamaha is the new inverter model. Not sure what that means, but it is very light weight but really puts out the juice. We ran 2 screw guns, 2 – 500 watt quartz lights and our radio and this Yamaha barely ran above idle. It weighs half of what our old junker weighs, runs 4 to 5 times longer on a gallon of gas and purrs quiet as a kitten. We have been using this wonderful generator for over a year with no problems at all. It’s Yamaha inverter generators for our crews from now on.

Received delivery of this generator on the day of a huge storm that swept through and knocked out power for 30 hours. This generator allowed me to pump out my full sump pit, keep my two fridges cold, and had the TV and fan running (all happened at separate intervals).
The best thing about this generator is how easy it is to use, and it’s only 70 lbs. Fill up with gas and oil, switch the power on, gas on, choke, and pull. This generator is so quiet and has plenty of power to get you through a short term power outage. Dollar for watts, this is the best inverter generator out there. If I ever need a 30 amp hookup (ie. for a transfer switch connected to a house panel), I can buy another one of these generators and set up a parallel hookup. Also, since it’s lightweight and quiet, I can use it for other purposes like camping. I also bought the hour meter and cover. This is a quality piece of equipment, made in Japan. Not the Harbor Freight special.
